This is a repost from a year ago. Since that time the Eye-Fi memory card and software has been updated. You'll no longer need to jailbreak your iPad in order to stream images directly from the camera to the iPad without being hooked to WiFi. Imagine being on set and handing your art director/ client an iPad and telling him he can sit back in the motorhome and evaluate images as they come off the camera. No more peering over your shoulder (isn't that annoying) at little small teeny, tiny images. Or huddling under a dark cloth draped over a big-butt monitor (kinda like building forts in your living room as a kid). Even take it tech scouting with you and drop the layout over the image on the iPad. The beauty of this card and software is not only does it work with most all pro DSLR cameras but it works with almost any digital camera that has a card reader. You can check their site out for specific models listed by manufacturer. Even my little Nikon COOLPIX S8100 works with the card. Mmmmm... Find the Eye-Fi web site. Oh, almost forgot, if you can send images to an iPad you'll most certainly be able to send those same images to your laptop or tower (Let your asst. stay in the car out of the rain/snow or shoot in the studio untethered). Can we say BONUS!
The Eye-Fi Memory Card is a standard looking Secure Digital memory card in a 4GB or 8GB configuration. You stick it in your digital camera and it works the same as you would expect any SD card to work - storing files and all. The genius of the technology however is the Wi-Fi radio built into the card itself! What this allows you to do is leverage an existing Wi-Fi network to wirelessly stream the photos from your camera to a desktop, laptop or yes... an iPad. Read the story and review...
Next check out FStoppers YouTube video.
This is very, very cool. No more having your client squint at the camera back as they lean over your shoulder. Let them sit back in a director's chair and sip a latte. Just like in the movies.
